Alexa is a Rutgers College psychology major entering her senior year. She enjoys folk music and playing the piano. Past research experience in a cognitive developmental research lab and a medical decision making lab helped prepare her for the rigorous Project L/EARN curriculum.
Alexa hopes to have a career in which "[she] will be helping society and people, more specifically the groups that are often overlooked, elderly African Americans and youths." She was excited to work with her mentors, Ellen Idler and Howard Leventhal, on their research projects. "Both of my mentors are nationally known and I liked the fact that [their research] focused on minority groups." Her project, In assessing her summer, Alexa comments, "I thought it was really great, one of the best things that has happened to me. A lot of really good people were willing to help me. They were all interested in seeing me succeed....Project L/EARN has started me on a process of growth...I am very grateful."
