Ana had been in her senior year at Rutgers College majoring in Psychology at the time of her internship. Though a native of New York, her family, however, chose to make their home in River Edge, New Jersey.
While Rutgers University offers many majors, all of which Ana could have chosen, she fell in love with Psychology because it seemed to be the most versatile, giving her room to explore its many realms. Her goal at the time had been to become a therapist. However, her tireless efforts the summer of her internship had made a case for research, helping her to grasp the importance of including it in her future. Ana is grateful for her Project L/EARN experience. She notes that “[the program] is hard but invaluable. [The knowledge that I obtained that summer] would’ve taken me forever to learn”. All in all, Ana has ultimately learned that “great care goes into conducting good research.”
Prior to Project L/EARN, Ana kept her summers busy. She interned at the Food Research and Action Center, where she had assisted in lobbying visits to Congress for the disadvantaged. Ana has also worked at the fresh air fund camps in New York. In her spare time she practices perfecting her craft of painting; she also enjoys traveling.
