Jasmine was a student at the University of Pennsylvania where she had majored in Health and Societies. As an intern, she had found it very easy to relate to Dr. Miller and her research interests. And as a result of the compatible match between Jasmine and her mentor, they had successfully completed this study on AIDS knowledge among adolescents in Lagos, Nigeria and submitted the collaborative version of the work for publication that fall. Since Dr. Miller received her Ph.D. in demography at Penn, Jasmine is looking forward to building her professional network there, with Dr. Miller’s support. From her summer training experience, Jasmine had gained more confidence in her research skills.
Jasmine intends to attain a Master’s degree in Public Health. Her aspirations were intensified at the National Leadership Summit on Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities held in Washington, D.C. She was especially inspired by the number of people who gathered at the conference for the same cause and who seeming willing to offer their help and support.
