New Faculty at the Institute

Keith A. Wailoo has joined the Institute as Professor of History with shared responsibilities within the Institute and the Department of History. His research and teaching on the social construction of disease, the history and social history of the clinical and biomedical sciences and race, genetics, technology, and the organization of health care delivery add significant new dimensions to the Institute and University.

Ian Brissette, a social psychologist and current postdoctoral trainee, will continue his work on the psychological and behavioral pathways to health when he assumes his faculty position in the department of psychology in January, 2002.

Julie A. Phillips, a demographer, conducts research on racial and ethnic variations in levels of violence and differences in U.S. homicide rates across time and region.

Philip T. Yanos, a clinical psychologist and former postdoctoral trainee at the Institute, studies issues of recovery and successful community integration for persons with mental illnesses
