Task Force on Good Research Practices in Modeling Studies

Dr. Louise B. Russell was a member of the Task Force on Good Research Practices in Modeling Studies, jointly sponsored by the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) and the Society for Medical Decision Making (SMDM). Task Force members wrote the guidelines for the use of simulation models that facilitate estimation of the consequences of health care decisions. Seven reports from the Task Force are now available online and appear in the Sept/Oct issues of Medical Decision Making and Value in Health, the journals of the two societies. Developed by leading experts in decision analysis, economics, simulation, and related disciplines, the reports provide comprehensive guidance for designing, implementing, and validating model-based studies to inform medical decision making. The reports are also available at no charge through the Society for Medical Decision Making (SMDM). Professor Russell is an author on the second paper.
